boyextraordinary:

everytime i roll up onto the bikepath towards the skatepark i look around at what was once known by everyone as “dogtown”. where the zephyr team took a “toy” called a skateboard and innovated it into a creative adrenaline seeking blood bath that we skaters die for. i look at the waves that broke for surfers all those years ago and smell the salty air, the breeze whispers stories of a past time made up of drugs, angst, freedom and passion. all the photos you see on tumblr, youtube, facebook or in the magazines of a skateboarder wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for the 4 miles between venice beach california and santa monica that was named dogtown. never forget the roots of our dismissive cycle. this photo of me was taken by Ray Rae @ rayraepix.com, it’s awesome to hear the owner of zephyr tell me he’s never seen anybody else ollie into the pool, shortly after he asked for my phone number and now he’s hooking me up with skateboards. live the life you want, cherish the seconds you fly.
